This year I was fortunately blessed to work in a vendor booth at the state fair as a promotional associate. Long hours on your feet can lead to munchie attacks especially with various delicious smells swirling around you. Here's my listing of fried food tackled by me and some new friends:
~
First up is the fried ribs. Three succulent ribs, well seasoned delicate crispy exterior, and fall off the bone meat make this treat a new must have for future fair visits. Next we have fried pizza. I wasn't brave enough for the Doritos cool ranch version so i just ordered the original. I recommend you to not tackle this one alone. It was surprisingly delicious but i regrettably had to throw out a third of it. It will fill you up quickly while packing on the calories... The third meal is Fried Meatloaf. I was told that it was scrumptious and came with ketchup and gravy. My favorite was the golden fried millionaire pie. A heavenly combination of pineapple and coconut. Underneath that is Buffalo Chicken in a Flapjack. Not really worth the tickets compared to the Picnic On A Stick. Not enough chicken in my opinion. It had me visiting the beer garden immediately for a more filling meal of Fried Pork wing on a bed of homemade kettle chips. Best kettle chips and barbecue sauce I've ever tasted. My next fried treat has a funny misleading name called Fried Pig Toes. It's actually tater tots wrapped in bacon with jalapeno slices secured with a toothpick and fried. Comes with a side of cheese and chilli for dipping. A very nice helping to keep you full longer. Next is the fried Twinkie. I've been looking forward to it since it's conception. It didn't live up to my expectations unfortunately. I waited patiently for several minutes for a fresh one but i found it to be too chewy for my taste. Twinkies are better as is or in an ice cream sundae. A Fried Velvet Cupcake surpassed my expectations on the other hand. I was worried about its turn out since the red velvet funnel cake i tried last year fell short. The taste was phenomenal and reminded me of a slightly crisp hostess cupcake. The next scrumptious creation was my personalized funnel cake offered in the indoor food court. Reeses underneath topped with chocolate syrup, powdered sugar, and bacon bits. Another fair concoction that shouldn't be tackled alone. Dare I say too much chocolate syrup?! Well yes, when it's dribbling down your arm, purse, and shirt while trying to walk through the crowds. Last but not least, the last picture is of my coworker enjoying a bite of a doughnut burger. Two krispy kreme doughnuts, beef patty, melted cheese, bacon, and onions. I left off the lettuce and tomato. Best burger ever if you are not concerned with calories.
A few things not pictured above, fried bacon cinnamon roll, ultimate fried burger, fried pickles, crawfish sausage on a stick, corney cheese, Lermas Fajita Gordita, Jack's Frys, avacado fries, and Belgian waffle were all marvelous. I ended the 2013 season with my traditional bag of cotton candy.
