Just a little short update from a previous visit, we did manage to try out the Don Katsu breaded pork cutlet and it was epic!
I totally forgot to blog about it and barely remember what we ordered that day because afterward I left to visit some family for the weekend, and lo and behold no internet was available.
So yeah, this is our latest blog entry and we'll try to keep it updated more and regularly, sorry readers.
Today is my mother's birthday and I'm so excited because I'm totally helping out with a surprise party.
I am so comfortable with spilling the beans here because one my mom isn't too tech savvy and two I really don't think she is aware of my blog even though I have it clearly visible on my Facebook. *chuckles*
I ordered her an amazing cake and I can't wait to pick it up with Juan! After we hit J Sushi and some shopping centers we will be heading over to the great El Fenix for my mom's surprise birthday party.
I told her I wouldn't be able to visit this weekend and she is going to be uber siked when I walk in with her birthday cake with Juan! lol
She definitely needs some excitement in her life with her ol' midlife crisis she claims to have. I love her so much and I can't wait to see her and Juan and one day be able to plop a grandchild in her arms to fill her life with joy for many years like as I did from my grandmother when I was born.
Aww precious memories right? Check ya later bloggers!

Peace,
B

Barron's take on J Sushi & IYo Cafe

After we sat down and ordered, J sushi did start to fill up. We arrived a bit early because it opened around 11am and we barely arrived around the start of the lunch rush. The combination tempura was amazingly delicious with the sweet teriyaki sauce. We did manage to order everything planned out in the blog and the chicken teriyaki bento lunch box special.
Next time we go, I would like to try their Don Katsu bento. It's basically a breaded and fried pork cutlet with the usual extras of tempura veggies, shrimp tempura, and small salad with thousand island dressing. Thousand island dressing seems to be a common staple for most sushi restaurants on their salads.
Later I will to do a face off comparison between J Sushi versus I <3 Sushi. My favorite part of the experience was trying the fire cracker roll with Juan. The flames surround the sushi roll made our time together in the restaurant feel so romantic.
Afterward we headed over to IYo Cafe Denton next door to J Sushi for a healthy dessert. As much as I would have liked to try the tempura fried ice cream, we had enough tempura for one day in our meal. IYo Cafe is one of many different frozen yogurt shops that have popped up all over Denton and have become very popular. The unique  flavors of frozen yogurt and vast options for toppings  draws in the crowds for a somewhat healthy dessert. It rivals Beth Marie's Old Fashioned Ice Cream shops with their unique and home made flavors of ice cream, sherbet, and frozen yogurt. What keeps me coming back for more? The lower price and the whimsical thought of my waistline gradually shrinking. Hey, even though I'm a foodie I can dream. lol

J Sushi Review!!!

So Barroni and I get there and it's pretty much deserted, for a second I was thinking "Crap this place is gonna suck!!!!" But lucky for us it didn't. Barroni was in charge of the ordering so I'm not sure what we ordered but everything was delicious. The most worthwhile part of the whole experience was watching Barroni try to pick up some of the flaming tuna with her chopsticks. I love you Barroni!!!

And the winner for Friday is...

J Sushi is our next delicious destination and what's uber awesome is that I have found an awesome coupon online.
http://www.campusspecial.com/tile/couponviewer.php?id=N+TX66&abbreviation=N+TX

It's for $5 off for $30 or more purchase. So yeah, basically I'm going order $30 worth of sushi Friday and I'm too excited. I love my boo because he knows how much I am obsessed with fresh sushi like he is with his pizza. So I took a look at the menu and here's a heads up of what we will be sampling:
  • Fire Cracker Roll- California roll with super white tuna wrapped and baked with special sauce on fire. $14.95
  • Unaten Roll- Shrimp tempura with unagi on top $7.95
  • Combination Tempura- Shrimp, crab, avacado, and cucumber $7.50
More might come later ;p

What's Next? More Italian?

I did enjoy my second Double Dave's experience. I actually liked the philly cheese steak pizza. I rate the resturant 3 out 5 stars. I've been thinking about our next delicious adventure. Here are some of my ideas:

Double Daves round two

So last Friday Barroni and I went to Double Dave's and sad to say some of the pizza was less than great. So today we decided to give Double Dave's another chance and we were pleasantly surprised. The food was much better this time around and though I had really high expectations of their philly cheese steak pizza I am sad to say I was disappointed on that note. Luckily that was the only disappointment today with their menu. I would go back again and I give it a four out of five stars.

March 25~ Double Daves Pizza

~Barroni~
The first thing that comes to mind when I think of Double Daves is "sausage fest". Yes, there was plenty of sausage on the pizza but plenty of men to gobble it down as well. It was the most masculine atmosphere I've ever been in.
Neon beer signs, a huge flat screen tv broadcasting sports, and sports memorabilia embellished on the wooden walls of the restaurant. I came in during the regular lunch hour with Juan and it was packed with working men knocking back some pizza with their beer.
This is the perfect hangout for middle aged women looking for a man to handle her plumbing and I mean that in every sense. The wooden crafted booths have diagonal seating so my knees can dangle at the edge and make me feel like a kid again as I try to reach my feet to the floor without success.
Despite its newly remodeled outer appearance, the interior of the restaurant is quite small. The buffet selection is also lacking in variety of a typical popular buffet style. Out of my favorites and buffet experiences, I rank Double Daves second behind Pizza Inn but ahead of Cici's Pizza. This was my first visit so hopefully I will gain the courage to come back for dinner and give it a better rating next time. I wonder how Juan will rate his experience. I can't wait for us to live together one day so we can see each other every day instead of once a week dates. Parting is such sweet sorrow but with this blog it will be easier to wait for 'morrow.
